Division Units
Division special units consists of several smaller specialized units. These units are trained to deal with specific types of criminal activity:
  • Crime Stoppers
  • Narcotics Unit
Narcotics Unit
The Narcotics Unit is responsible for acquiring and developing information regarding the manufacture, sale, and distribution of narcotics in the city and monitoring gang activity. In addition to gang surveillance and investigation, the unit also provides several community resources and outreach programs designed to prevent gangs and gang violence.

Police Explorers
This is a free program affiliated with the Boy Scouts of America, this group is for males and females ages 14-19 interested in law enforcement or careers in law enforcement.  They currently meet every other Wednesday at 6 pm at the Winchester Police Department. Citizen Police Academy
Twelve week academy that meets Wednesdays at 6 pm for citizens interested in learning about their local law enforcement and criminal justice system.  This free program includes ride-a-longs with local law enforcement.  Information is posted in the Winchester Sun and on the Winchester Police Department Facebook Page when the academy is accepting applications.  For more information contact Criminal Investigations Captain James Hall at

911 For Kids
911 Communication Officers teach 3rd grade students in Clark County about the 9-1-1 System and when to call 9-1-1.
