Historic Preservation Commission

The Winchester Historic Preservation Commission (HPC) is devoted to preserving Winchester’s historic, cultural, and economic heritage through education, advocacy, and administration of community standards. Formed in 2001, the HPC administers the City’s Historic District Overlay (HDO) ordinance for the Downtown National Register District. The HDO manages changes in this historic commercial district through a design review process that promotes the preservation of the important architectural features that give the City its unique character. The HPC meets in City Hall at 6:00 p.m. on the third Thursday of each month. All HPC meetings are open to the public.
